Your privacy matters. This policy explains what personal information is collected through this website, how it is used, who it may be shared with, and how it is kept safe. It is written to align with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

Who this policy covers

This website (ushmasigdel.com) is the personal-brand site of Ushma Sigdel, Lawyer at Vision Overseas Group. Legal services — across family law, property law and immigration — are delivered through Vision Overseas Group. Any enquiry you send is shared with Ushma so she can respond to you.

What information is collected

  • What you send us. When you use the contact form you provide your name, email address, an optional phone number, and the details of your enquiry.
  • Sensitive information. Family, property and immigration matters can be personal. Anything you choose to share is treated as confidential and is only used to respond to you and, if you go on to instruct Ushma, to help with your matter.
  • Analytics. This site uses PostHog, a privacy-respecting product-analytics tool (hosted in the European Union), to understand how the site is used — for example, which pages are viewed. It is not used for advertising, and the details you type into the contact form are not recorded.
  • Technical basics. The hosting provider (Cloudflare) may log standard technical information, such as your approximate location and browser type, to deliver and protect the site.

Cookies and local storage

Analytics may set cookies to recognise return visits. This site also uses your browser's local storage to remember that you've dismissed the privacy notice, so it isn't shown again. You can clear both at any time through your browser settings.

How your information is used

  • To reply to your enquiry and discuss how Ushma may be able to help.
  • To provide legal services, if you decide to proceed.
  • To understand and improve how the website is used (analytics).
  • To meet professional, legal and record-keeping obligations.

Your details are never sold, and they are not used for marketing without your consent.

Service providers we use

A few trusted providers help run this site and handle enquiries. Each only receives what it needs for its task:

  • Cloudflare — hosts the website, manages the domain (DNS) and content delivery, and operates the email routing that forwards messages sent to contact@ushmasigdel.com.
  • Web3Forms — delivers your contact-form submission to Ushma by email.
  • PostHog — provides the privacy-respecting analytics described above.

Some of these providers operate overseas (including in the United States and the European Union). By using this site and contacting Ushma through it, you consent to your information being handled by these providers for the purposes described above. Each maintains its own security and privacy practices.

Consent

Before sending the contact form, you are asked to confirm that you agree to your details being used to respond to your enquiry. For analytics, consent is taken as given by your continued use of the site — a notice at the bottom of the page makes this clear. You can withdraw consent or ask for your information to be deleted at any time by getting in touch, and you can opt out of analytics using your browser's privacy controls.

How your information is handled and stored

Contact-form submissions are delivered to Ushma by email through the form provider (Web3Forms) and sent to contact@ushmasigdel.com, which only Ushma can access. They are kept only as long as needed to respond to you and to meet record-keeping obligations.

Reasonable steps are taken to protect your information from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please avoid sending highly sensitive documents until we have spoken.

Accessing or correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Contact contact@ushmasigdel.com and your request will be actioned as soon as reasonably possible.

Making a complaint

If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, please raise it first via contact@ushmasigdel.com. If you are not satisfied with the response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.
